OUR TEAM

Susan B. Harlow, MD, FACP, is a native of Conway, Arkansas and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas [Go Bears!] with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. After receiving her medical degree she relocated to Tennessee and continued her training by completing her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. She practiced in Columbia, Tullahoma, and Manchester early in her career. In 2009 she accepted River Park Hospital’s invitation to open a practice in Warren County, Tennessee. In response she established her current medical practice, Cumberland Adult Medicine, to serve the residents of McMinnville and the surrounding communities.

Dr. Harlow is a Primary Care Physician (PCP) treating adults for acute and chronic conditions (often several generations of the same family). Dr. Harlow maintains admitting privileges at St. Thomas River Park Hospital where she is a past Chief of Staff. In addition, Dr. Harlow is the medical director for Avalon Hospice (McMinnville).

Dr. Harlow is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the credentialing authority among internal medicine healthcare professionals. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). She is a founding member of the Cumberland Center for Healthcare Innovation (a Medicare recognized Accountable Care Organization) and has served as a member of its board of directors.

She makes her home in McMinnville along with her family, two dogs, and a cat.

Ashley N. Cox, PA-C, is a board certified Physician Assistant (PA) licensed by the state of Tennessee to treat patients. PA's are a category on non-physician medical provider recognized by the state and authorized to examine, diagnose, treat, and prescribe for patients. Ashley works as a Primary Care Provider (PCP) and focuses her practice on individuals age 18 and older. Like our other providers, she is skilled in treating the chronic conditions that develop as one ages. In addition, she is concerned with identifying chronic conditions before they escalate. Ashley performs many of our Annual Wellness Visits (highly recommended by Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans as preventive visits) in furtherance of this effort.

Ashley received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from the University of Memphis and her Masters of Medical Science (Physician Assistant Studies focus) from Lincoln Memorial University.  She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Ashley’s previous experience includes tenure in an Internal Medicine practice and at a long term care facility.

Ashley is a 2021 recipient of the Southern Standard's Best of the Best reader award. She makes her home in Cookeville and joined Cumberland Adult Medicine in 2018.

Aryn K. Snow, FNP-C, is a native of McMinnville, Tennessee. She attended Tennessee Technological University (Cookeville) where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 2016 and was then licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the state of Tennessee. She began her healthcare career as a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville) where she was responsible for caring for critically ill infants.

In 2018 Aryn joined the NICU at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital (Murfreesboro) where she cared for pre-term and critically ill newborns. She worked with a team of pediatricians, specialists, and other nurses to ensure optimal outcomes for the tiniest of patients facing extreme health challenges.

While continuing her responsibilities in the NICU, she returned to the classroom. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Tennessee Technological University’s joint MSN-FNP program. She was then licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) - commonly known as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Nurse Practitioners are a category of non-physician provider recognized and licensed by the state to examine and treat patients. Aryn’s educational focus was in Family Medicine and she earned the additional designation of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

In November of 2021, Aryn returned her professional talents to her hometown when she joined Cumberland Adult Medicine. She is responsible for collaborating with Dr. Harlow in the treatment of the acute and chronic conditions of adult patients. Her focus is on early detection of, and intervention in, the chronic conditions that develop over time. She utilizes the Annual Wellness Visits encouraged by Medicare plans as a tool to evaluate and advise patients on a yearly basis.
