About Us

OUR TEAM

Susan B. Harlow, MD, FACP, is a native of Arkansas and graduated from the University of Central Arkansas [Go Bears!] with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. After receiving her medical degree she relocated to Tennessee to continue her medical training by completing her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. In 2009 she received an invitation from River Park Hospital to open a practice in Warren County. In response, she established Cumberland Adult Medicine to serve the residents of McMinnville and the surrounding communities.

Dr. Harlow is a Primary Care Physician (PCP) treating adults for acute and chronic conditions (often several generations of the same family). Dr. Harlow maintains admitting privileges at Saint Thomas River Park Hospital where she is a past Chief of Staff. In addition, Dr. Harlow is a past medical director for Gentiva Hospice (formerly Avalon).

Dr. Harlow is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, the credentialing authority among internal medicine physicians. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP). She is a founding member of the Cumberland Center for Healthcare Innovation (CCHI is a Medicare recognized Accountable Care Organization) and has served as a member of its board of directors.

She makes her home in McMinnville along with her husband, two dogs, and an unspecified number of cats.

Aryn K. Snow, FNP-C is a native of McMinnville. She attended Tennessee Technological University (Cookeville) where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); she began her healthcare career as a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (Nashville).  She was responsible for caring for critically ill infants.Aryn later joined the NICU at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital (Murfreesboro) where she again focused on pre-term and critically ill newborns. She worked to ensure optimal outcomes for the tiniest of patients facing extreme health challenges.

While continuing her responsibilities in the NICU, she returned to the classroom. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Tennessee Technological University’s joint MSN-FNP program. She was licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) - commonly known as a Nurse Practitioner (NP). Nurse Practitioners are a category of non-physician provider recognized and licensed by the state to examine and treat patients. Aryn’s educational focus was in Family Medicine and she earned the additional designation of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP). She is certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

Aryn returned her professional talents to her hometown when she joined Cumberland Adult Medicine. She is responsible for collaborating with Dr. Harlow in the treatment of the acute and chronic conditions of adult patients. Her focus is on early detection of, and intervention in, the chronic conditions that develop over time. She utilizes the Annual Wellness Visits encouraged by Medicare plans as a tool to evaluate and advise patients on a yearly basis.

Same Day Sick Visits - We make every effort to make it easy for current patients to see a provider when they are ill. Like most practices we work by appointment for routine exams and follow-up. However, if you are ill or injured on a given day, then simply contact our Front Desk to let them know the issue and when it is convenient for you to drop by the practice.

Lori Edwards, CPC, CPB - Lori has received her Certified Professional Coder (CPC) and Certified Professional Biller (CPB) credentials from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). While not widely known outside of healthcare administrative circles, these designation represents a major career achievement. We are proud to have her as a member of our team.

Second Decade  - June of 2019 marked the beginning of our second decade of service to McMinnville and the surrounding communities. Dr. Harlow opened Cumberland Adult Medicine in June of 2009 to serve the primary care needs of patients in the region. The practice has since outgrown its original space twice, added two additional medical providers, and currently employees a team of 10 nurses and support staff busy caring for hundreds of families who live in the area.

New Patients -  Our patient roster is full and we are not currently accepting New Patients.

Breast Cancer Awareness - October was Breast Cancer Awareness month, but the message remains the same year round. Early detection and treatment are key to a positive outcome. Be sure to schedule your mammogram today should you be overdue.

Flu Shots are recommended for our patients (with very few exceptions). Groups at risk for flu related complications include those over 65, those who are diabetic, those with compromised immune systems, pregnant women, and those with impaired lung function. Ask your nurse for a Flu Shot starting October 1st.

After Hours / Weekends / Holidays  We understand that illness often strikes at the most inconvenient time - after normal business hours, over the weekend, or during a holiday. One of our providers is always on call.  They can be reached by calling our regular number outside normal business hours. Our After Hours message will instruct you how to reach us if you experience an urgent medical problem after hours. Don't hesitate to contact us. Not sure whether you need to go the Emergency Room, then give us a call.

As always, for life threatening medical emergencies call 9-1-1 and seek immediate assistance.
